Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
  • What is a cement sampler?
The Cement Sampler allows large volume samples to be taken from trucks and tankers. The Cement Sampler can be used with free flowing powders and grains. The sampler automatically closes when it is withdrawn. The sample size is approximately 8 litres from a bulk depth of 1.5 metres.
  • How do you take a sample of cement?
If water is added to the mixer to adjust the slump at the site of the work, sample after the water is added and the concrete is thoroughly mixed. Sample by repeatedly passing a receptacle through the entire discharge stream, or by diverting the stream completely so that the whole stream discharges into a container.
  • What's a reasonable frequency for testing fresh concrete?
Specifications for Structural Concrete, ACI 301-96, requires obtaining at least one composite sample for each 100 cubic yards, or fraction thereof, of each design mixture of concrete placed in any one day.
  • How do you get yards of cement?
    • Measure the area in feet.
    • Multiply length by width, and then by thickness.
    • Divide the resulting number by 27 to find cubic yards.
