The SE-Test India ranging rod is used for the marking position of stations and sightings of those stations, as well as ranging straight lines made of light and straight bamboo. SE-Test India provides a should with iron at the bottom and is surmounted with a flag about 250 mm square in size. SE-Test India rods are usually about 30 mm in diameter and 2 m or 3 m long, painted with alternating bands, such as red and white, red and yellow, or black and white, in lengths of 200 mm, 500 mm, or 1 foot so that the rod can be properly sighted in case of a long distance or bad weather. SE-Test India Ranging rods of greater length, up to 3 to 6 meters, are used for very long survey lines.
